Gilgamesh
London, NW1
CCO 20/08/08
The decor is Gilgamesh is second to none and the set menu offers good value for money, although the service was adequate but far from exceptional. The wine list was rather expsensive but overall a very good dining experience

Quaglino's

Good in parts. The mussels to start were excellent. We went for fish and chips for the main course. There was a large quantity, but the fish seemed a bit dried out. Dessert was tarte du jour and was excellent. So good, but not an unqualified success.

La Porte des Indes
London, W1H
Zach Skaife 20/08/08
We visited La Porte des Indes for our anniversary. The atmosphere was exactly what we'd hoped for - busy yet intimate, staff in traditional garms, attentive service and over-the-top decor. The food was also top notch (except the popadom sides) and we were impressed by the seafood dishes. Sadly, we had to ask 3 staff before geting the correct toptable menu and the dishes available on the offer were limited. Nevertheless, it was still a highly memorable and thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.

Patterson's
London, W1S
SG 20/08/08
Another elegant, delicious, high-quality meal at Patterson's. The fish of the day was seabass with lobster tail in a (sort of) spring vegetable froth. My brother's foie gras starter platter was beautiful and generous as well as tasty. He seemed to love the breads. Only drawback was the wait of almost an hour between courses; wouldn't have mattered except as a gluten-free diner I became pretty hungry and we had a drinks party to get to, meaning we had no time for two full desserts as per menu

Apsleys

Some issues in the kitchen, took an hour for the first course to come through. They did give us a free mid course of Proscuitto, which was a nice gesture. The fixed menu was rather limited in choice, only 2 main courses to choose from ! Overall OK for the price !

Excellent offer 2 courses for £15. Big portions, food was very tasty, waiters were very attentive. Everyone enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone, excellent location too. We got a table by the window as requested. Briliant.

Hokkien Chan is a lovely restaurant and very convenient for a work lunch. The food was good but not particularly outstanding. And service was ok when you could get someone's attention.

Harry's Bar - always buzzing and feels like a party in the bar yet the little dining room is peaceful and intimate. Lots of really good wines and most available by the glass. Altogether a great experience.

Sugar Hut Village
Brentwood, CM14
RK 20/08/08
From the moment one walks in to the moment one walks out, you know you have been somewhere well worth your hard earned money. The service was excellent, the food was excellent and the setting, well, what can you say? Are you really in Brentwood? We have frequented Sugar Hut a dozen times since it opened, and have never come away disappointed. Sugar Hut, without a doubt, is Brentwood's top restaurant.

Moro
London, EC1R
HS 20/08/08
I like Moro. Have eaten there, and will eat there again. It is consistently good, with unobtrusive service and good value for money. If I had to grumble about one thing, I thought the calves liver in my starter was too rare, but that is a preference issue rather than a quality issue - perhaps being asked how I would like it cooked would have been good.

Roadhouse has a door policy of no under 18's which caused a bit of a problem but other than that its a good value night out.

Bank Birmingham
Birmingham, B1
SS 20/08/08
Bank Birmingham proved an ideal venue for a get together with a friend. Attentive service but unobtrusive. Tuna nicoise salad with Tuna grilled perfectly pink, gloucester old spot sausages and smooth mash together with lamb cutlets again cooked perfectly pink. We still had room for a shared pud, a quad of sticky toffe pudding, chocolate brownie, a delectable creme brulee and pavlova. Well recommended.

Cafe Strudel
London, SW14
SA 20/08/08
Our party was warmly welcomed at Cafe Strudel with several tables put together for us. Food was freshly cooked and well served although the lunch menu was a bit limited. Portions were very generous. Jugs of iced water with lemon were provided - always a nice touch and appreciated. For the 50% off special offer it was superb value.

Charlotte's Place
London, W5
JS 20/08/08
The portions were miniscule and the soup plates were only half filled. The main course was acceptable but the sorbet was a mush of sugar and water with no true fruit flavours at all. A rather disappointing meal and definitely not worth the full price for a set lunch.

Excellent food served in small restaurant . Owners genuinely try to offer you the curry that you like with the right level of spice. Always served in a friendly manner at a reasonable price.
